Alfa Romeo Montreal was first performed as concept car in Montreal (Canada) on Expo'67 exhibition in remote 1967. Serial production was started in 1970. Prototype was designed by Bertone who was old Alfa partner. This time the company suffered of crisis and tried to gain new orders (is number began to decrease when Alfa started its own researches in its own Centro Stile). Bertone concept of 67 was just beautiful model because technical filling especially 1.6l 4-cylinder motor of Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT didn’t correspond to vehicle class. But its appearance was amazing! Serial version was ready soon and Alfa Romeo Montreal debuted on GenevaAuto Show on March, 12 1970. If design was changed a little then from technical point of view it was absolutely different car. Main novelty was hidden under the hood: It was 2.6l V8 motor derived from Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale supercar (it was those model which returned Alfa Romeo in automotive sport). The motor, of course, was a little deforced - under the Montreal hood it reached 220 hp (in original version for 33 Stradale its power was 350 hp).
Alfa Romeo Montreal had been produced since 1970 till 1977.
