Replacement of Chrysler arriving in January
According to a report from Autoreport, the next model of Chrysler 200 would make its debut next year. Sergio Marchionne, CEO, has revealed that the model for 2015 would be unveiled in January 2014 and the model that the company had planned to introduce in 2014 would be shelved. If one goes by the reports of AW, the production starts this July to introduce the model early next year. These documents do not reveal whether Avenger by Dodge will also get a new model by next year. There were reports earlier that Avenger may be shelved altogether but the availability of a successor means that it may get a new lease of life. The company is planning to invest 1 billion USD in a plant at Sterling Heights in Michigan for construction of body and painting of the body of this new avatar of Chrysler.
According to our sources, the 2015 model planned by Chrysler will have a total body makeover and this change will also be seen in other cars made by the company. There are also reports that this 4-door sedan will be an automatic transmission type and return a fuel efficiency of 38 miles per gallon.
It was in 2011 that Chrysler turned a new leaf in its history when it gave a facelift to its Sebring to turn it into 200. The company got encouraging results and the sales increased by 44% in 2012. In fact, 200 became one of the best selling cars of Chrysler. The strategy of the company is still paying rich dividends and sales are still up 21%.
