Dacia

August 20, 1968 with the help of Renault factory was opened UAP plant, located in Kolibashi, a suburb of the Romanian city Pitetsht. Under the license from Renault it produces cars of Dacia brand.

Initially, annual capacity was no more than 1100 cars which were analogues of Renault 8. Under the license, all production concluded only in the assembly of bodies that come from France, testing, acceptance of spare parts and finished products sale. No changes in comparison to the original allowed. Such were the conditions of the contract.

These cars were named in honor of ancient name of Romania - Dacia. Since 1998, the company is in the group as a subsidiary of Renault.

Dacia now produces about 100,000 cars and 25,000 pickups a year.
