FAW

The first Chinese automobile company First Automobile Works (FAW) was registered on June 15, 1953. Since that time the history of auto industry in China is counted.

During the lifetime the FAW corporation did not concede leadership in the industry. Starting with the manufacturing of trucks, FAW has taken its place on a market of passenger cars and small capacity passenger cars.

In 1991, FAW began cooperation with the German Volkswagen concern. Since then, the Chinese firm produces over 150,000 cars per year. 2002 was noticed by the merger of FAW and Tianjin Automobile Industry Group Corporation, making it possible to cooperate with Toyota Motor Corporation.

The structure of FAW consists of 30 subsidiaries. Besides, the China's largest automaker controls 16 companies which are partially owned by him. It includes: FAW Jiefang Automobile Co., Ltd. and FAWER Automobile Parts Co., Ltd, which are fully owed by corporation; Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd and Changchun FAW Sihuan Automobile Co., Ltd, — their shares are sold on stock market; FAW Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd and Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., which are joint companies of Sino-foreign. Besides, Faw owes a center for research and development of new technologies, materials and products. Cars to be issued by corporation are exported via Northern China ( Tianjin city), provinces of Julin and Heilongjiang as far as via eastern province Shandong and south-western province Sichuan.
