Interesting News
  • TRK 502.

The Benelli TRK 502, which is also bound for our shores, will be a potent addition to the already formidable Benelli line-up in India. In a country where motorcycle touring is the primary form of leisure biking, the TRK 502 with its 47.6-PS and 45-Nm 500-cc liquid-cooled parallel twin (the same as in the Leoncino) and 20-litre petrol tank will definitely appeal to a whole new range of consumers. The bike features USD front forks and a rear monoshock, both with 150 mm of travel, in order to provide as plush a ride quality over long journeys as possible. The bike will also be available in a more off-road orientated version. Unlike the Tornado 302 and the Leoncino this bike will not be coming to India until the second half of 2016, which is when it will also be launched globally.
  • XR11 TR750 and an XR05 TR500.v SPEEDBLOCKS.

Yamaha tapped into the American-inspired, yellow-and-black speedblock livery that the company has re-adopted to celebrate their 60th Anniversary. That was represented by a Kenny Roberts’ 1977 OW31 TZ750 (raced in F750) and an OW60 YZR 500 he raced to victory in the 1982 Argentine GP. Still in the blue Gauloises livery, though, was Christian Sarron’s YZR500, and in white and red was one of the Yamaha France Paris-Dakar XT500s from 1979. Headlining the stand was Yamaha’s Yard Build competition-winning V-Max ‘V-Speed’ by Liberty Yamaha - also in yellow and black.
  • Leoncino.

Given how popular the scrambler look has become of late, it is of little surprise that Benelli have resurrected the Leoncino name with this scrambler-esque motorbike. This stylised bike even features the lion of Pesaro (Benelli’s home town) on the front mudguard, a throwback to the original bike that bore the same name. Power comes from a totally new liquid-cooled four-valve DOHC 500-cc twin-cylinder engine that has an output rating of 47.6 PS at 8,500 RPM and 45 Nm of maximum twist force at 4,500 RPM. Transmission is, of course, via a six-speed gearbox. The Leoncino’s chassis comprises the trademark Benelli trellis; the front end with 50-mm USD forks while the at the rear there is an offset monoshock with adjustment for spring preload and hydraulic rebound damping. Stopping power comes from a pair of 320-mm dia rotors with radial four-piston callipers and a single 260-mm dia rotor with twin-piston callipers. For those of you who couldn’t go to EICMA, this wonderful looking machine will also grace the Benelli stall at the forthcoming Auto Expo next February according to the company’s top management.
