Interesting News
  • 2016 Honda CB500F and CBR500R (shown).

Honda has made small tweaks to its self-described “fun and affordable” CB500F and CBR500R models, which for 2016 feature moreaggres sive styling for an overall sportier look. In addition to the updated styling, the CB500F and CBR500R both get a new muffl er for better mass centralization, lighter weight, and improved sound, a larger fuel tank, adjustable front brake lever, preload adjustment for the front suspension, and transmission updates that result in smoother shifting. Availability is early 2016.
  • Moto 3 Team Launch.

It’s no secret any longer that Peugeot Scooters, post their partnership with Mahindra and with the active involvement of Mahindra Racing, will be joining the 2016 Moto3 grid. The team was formally launched at EICMA 2015 with the 28-year-old Frenchman Alexis Masbou and 21-year-old Scotsman John McPhee announced as the two riders who will lead the French charge on the Moto3 racing grid. The team, officially known as Peugeot Saxo Print Racing Team, will be managed by Terell B Thien.
  • CRF 1000L Africa Twin.

Honda unveiled the celebrated CRF 1000L Africa Twin in Europe for the first time at EICMA. This adventure-tourer motorcycle is powered by a 998-cc parallel twin engine that draws heavily on Honda’s CRF 250 and 450 competition machines and uses the same four-valve Unicam head design. While the standard Africa Twin is available with a six-speed manual gearbox, there are two more versions to be had. The first features ABS and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which controls the amount of torque going to the wheel and, in doing so, prevents or allows wheelspin. The last variant of the Africa Twin features Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) that was first seen on the VFR 1200F. Unlike on the sports tourer, however, on the Africa Twin, the DCT has also been programmed to function off-road. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely at the moment that the CRF 1000L Africa Twin will head to India anytime soon, but there’s no harm in hoping, is there?
