  • V7 II.

    Moto Guzzi launched the new generation of the V7 at EICMA 2015, called V7 II, six years after the re-launch of the iconic motorcycle. Although a classic in its visual appeal, the V7 II is a modern motorcycle loaded with modern technologies. The bike is powered by Moto Guzzi’s new 744-cc air-cooled engine that puts out 48 PS at 6,200 RPM and 60 Nm of maximum torque at a rather low 2,800 RPM. Transmission is via a new six-speed gearbox as opposed to the previous V7’s five-speed unit. The clutch, too, has been improved with better linkages and modifications to the lever and cable in order to achieve a softer action and an even release. The bike should be headed to India soon and, once launched here, should make for an interesting choice in that segment.

    Enhancements to the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX with 1.5-litre TDCi engine and PowerShift gearbox has seen CO2 emissions tumble from 115 to 109g/km in the five-seat edition and 124 to 119g/km in the seven-seat Grand C-MAX model. It means that each version drops one vehicle excise duty band and in the case of the C-MAX, there’s a decease of two company car tax benefit-in kind brackets to 19 per cent. The Grand C-MAX drops one band to 21 per cent. Despite the enhanced efficiency, prices remain the same as before with the C-MAX Zetec 1.5 TDCi PowerShift costing Ј21,295 and rising to Ј26,395 for the Grand C-MAX Titaniumm X 1.5 TDCi PowerShift.

    Probably the most eye-catching and exciting motorcycle at EICMA 2015, the sharp and edgy MT-10 is actually a naked version of Yamaha’s awesome YZF R1. It is powered by a reworked 998-cc in-line four with the crossplane crankshaft. Output figures remain shrouded in mystery, unfortunately. The MT-10, like a host of other motorcycles across manufacturers, gets the benefit of ride-by-wire, which is further shored up with selectable power modes, traction control and so on. However, the inertial measurement units of the range-topping R1 will not be seen in the electronics package of the MT-10. Although the bike doesn’t look like it’s headed for India anytime soon, it will surely catch a whole lot of eyeballs and swing them Yamaha’s way if the Indian arm of the MotoGP world championship winning manufacturer do decide to take the bold step.
