    The most frugal Superb models yet have been launched by Skoda with these GreenLine badged models emitting just 95g/km of CO2 in hatchback guise, and 1g/km higher with the estate bodystyle. Official figures suggest that 76.4mpg is possible on the combined fuel economy cycle, with the power and torque figures of the standard car preserved of 118bhp and 184lb ft of torque. Offered in a choice of four trim levels - S, SE, SE Business and SE L Executive - prices start at Ј20,900 for the Hatchback S 1.6 TDI GreenLine, and rise to Ј26,250 for the Estate SE L Executive 1.6 TDI GreenLine. Extra efficiency measures include super rolling resistant tyres, 17-inch ‘Helios’ alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, GreenLine badging, as well as rear privacy glass and cornering front fog lights. The price premium for this greater frugality works out at Ј860, with the first examples turning up at showrooms soon.

It’s amodernvisionof hewnaluminiumand hand-finishedparts. And soBimota think thismakes it perfect for some retroaction. For theRaceCafe the 3D’s angular body is swapped for a traditional profile and tiny seat unitwith the essential brown perch, and there’s the same headlight as onAriel’sAce. The 1078ccDucati V twin is swapped for the803cc Scrambler unit, with a curvy new pipe. Swingarms are un retro carbon. Stare long enough and, fromsome angles, the RaceCafe almost works… but not quite. For us, a Tesi should be all about sharp, cutting edge design. Other Bimotanews ismorepleasing. The newImpeto uses the Diavel’s bulging 1198ccTestastretta engine, anoptional blower taking peak power past 200bhp. Youcan specify a carbon frame, too. Best of all, Bimota are going back to their roots andoffering frame kits. Their BB3 canbe supplied as a rolling chassis to take the motor from a salvaged BMW S1000RR. Just like the good old days. Let’s hope the kit option extends to more models - we’d love to build our own Tesi (no brown seat).

    For those who think good just isn’t good enough, Aprilia has released more information on a “Factory Works” program that will enable riders or teams to buy an RSV4 built by the manufacturer’s racing department. While the program is primarily intended to keep Aprilia’s RSV4 on race grids around the world, it is also a chance for (very) serious trackday enthusiasts or collectors to stake their claim on Aprilia Racing Division’s years of hard work and development…for a price, of course. No word just yet on what that price will be, though Aprilia did confirm that the RSV4 R-FW will be made available in five packages (each varying in terms of specification for engine and electronics), with the top packages featuring special electronics systems and an engine with upward of 230 hp.
