  • 2016 Honda CB500F and CBR500R (shown).

Honda has made small tweaks to its self-described “fun and affordable” CB500F and CBR500R models, which for 2016 feature moreaggres sive styling for an overall sportier look. In addition to the updated styling, the CB500F and CBR500R both get a new muffl er for better mass centralization, lighter weight, and improved sound, a larger fuel tank, adjustable front brake lever, preload adjustment for the front suspension, and transmission updates that result in smoother shifting. Availability is early 2016.
  • PEUGEOT news.

Automatic editions of the 308 and 308 SW fitted with the 2.0-litre BlueHDi 150 engine have been fettled, with CO2 emissons dropping down to 105g/km on the hatchback and 109g/km on the SW estate. Previously they were rated at 107 and 111g/km, respectively. Both Allure and GT Line versions are affected, with all cars rolling off the production lines now boasting the greater efficiency. And while the changes don’t alter the vehicle excise duty cost on the hatchback, the 308 SW drops into the Ј20 bracket, saving Ј10 per annum. That’s not an enormous reduction, however, company car drivers enjoy a one per cent reduction in the benefit-in-kind liability, with both hatchback and SW estate editions now charged at 19 per cent on the scale.
  • MAZDA news.

It’s offered with both five-door hatchback and four-door Fastback bodystyles, and the choice of manual or automatic transmission - the latter exclusive to hatchback editions. The new engine is capable of achieving a maximum speed of 116mph and accelerates to 62mph in 11.0 seconds. Maximum torque of 199lb ft is produced between 1,600 and 2,500rpm. Available in each of the five trim levels - SE, SE Nav, SE-L, SE-L Nav and Sport Nav - prices start at Ј18,895 for the SE 1.5-litre diesel hatchback and Fastback, while the flagship of the line-up, the Sport Nav 1.5 diesel automatic hatchback is priced at Ј23,145.
