  • R nine T Scrambler.

The R nine T Scrambler is a German take on scrambler styling that seems to have become the flavour of the season. This classic-looking bike is powered by a 1,170- cc air-cooled Boxer twin with 110 PS and 116 Nm of power and torque available at 7,750 RPM and 6,000 RPM respectively. The minimalistic design of the bike can be tweaked to suit one’s taste. To help with this, BMW Motorrad are offering a range of accessories and attachments - for instance, at the rear, a removable section of the sub-frame allows riders to use it for solo as well as pillion riding. Will it come to India? Stay tuned. If it does, we will get you that update.
  • Leoncino.

Given how popular the scrambler look has become of late, it is of little surprise that Benelli have resurrected the Leoncino name with this scrambler-esque motorbike. This stylised bike even features the lion of Pesaro (Benelli’s home town) on the front mudguard, a throwback to the original bike that bore the same name. Power comes from a totally new liquid-cooled four-valve DOHC 500-cc twin-cylinder engine that has an output rating of 47.6 PS at 8,500 RPM and 45 Nm of maximum twist force at 4,500 RPM. Transmission is, of course, via a six-speed gearbox. The Leoncino’s chassis comprises the trademark Benelli trellis; the front end with 50-mm USD forks while the at the rear there is an offset monoshock with adjustment for spring preload and hydraulic rebound damping. Stopping power comes from a pair of 320-mm dia rotors with radial four-piston callipers and a single 260-mm dia rotor with twin-piston callipers. For those of you who couldn’t go to EICMA, this wonderful looking machine will also grace the Benelli stall at the forthcoming Auto Expo next February according to the company’s top management.
  • JAGUAR news.

Prices have been announced for four-wheel-drive editions of Jaguar’s brand new XE saloon, with the drivetrain paired exclusively to the 178bhp 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine and ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. Offered with a choice of four trim levels - SE, Prestige, R-Sport and Portfolio - prices start at Ј33,825 and rise to Ј37,225. CO2 emissions are nudged up a notch to 123g/km, compared to 109g/km on rearwheel- drive editions, with fuel economy on the combined cycle rated at 60.1mpg compared to 67.3mpg. The extra reassurance of four-wheel-drive comes at a time when one of its biggest rivals, the BMW 3 Series, is selling well in xDrive guise. Couple that with Audi’s A4 quattro that has been around for years, and it’s clear that there is demand for all-wheel-drive in a compact executive car. Other changes for the 2017 model year XE include the availability of Jaguar’s new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, incorporating a 10.2-inch touchscreen. In addition, for Apple Watch users, a new InControl Remote smartphone app allows owners to lock and unlock the car, check how much fuel is left in the tank, and get an update on the car’s location. It’s also possible to set the climate control to heat or cool the cabin, and start the car remotely to gain a perfect temperature before you even venture outside of the front door. The latest XE is on sale now at Jaguar retailers, with the first cars set to arrive early next year.
