  • Ford to invest Ј3 billion in electRification.

    Ford will add 13 new electrified vehicles to its model range between now and 2020, with more than 40 per cent of the company’s nameplates featuring an Electric model. The first results of this Ј3 billion project will be a new Focus Electric car that will be capable of travelling 100 miles on a single charge. The investment will see electrified vehicle research and development centres in Europe and Asia expand, with what Ford calls a ‘hub and spoke’ system that will allow the global team to accelerate battery technology development and exploit opportunities in key markets.

    The mean-looking 1290 Super Duke GT is actually the 1290 Super Duke in Tour mode. To enable the much too capable 1290 Super Duke to develop long legs, KTM have given it a large-capacity 23-litre tank and a lengthened rear subframe with integral mounts for optional panniers. One can even opt for heated grips, cruise control, adjustable windscreen, LED cornering lights and LED daytime running lights. You’ll get KTM’s Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC), which includes traction control and C-ABS, KTM Ride Mode tech and a quickshifter as standard fare anyway. Not to forget that monster 173-PS LC8 engine and semi-active suspension.
  • MT-10.

    Probably the most eye-catching and exciting motorcycle at EICMA 2015, the sharp and edgy MT-10 is actually a naked version of Yamaha’s awesome YZF R1. It is powered by a reworked 998-cc in-line four with the crossplane crankshaft. Output figures remain shrouded in mystery, unfortunately. The MT-10, like a host of other motorcycles across manufacturers, gets the benefit of ride-by-wire, which is further shored up with selectable power modes, traction control and so on. However, the inertial measurement units of the range-topping R1 will not be seen in the electronics package of the MT-10. Although the bike doesn’t look like it’s headed for India anytime soon, it will surely catch a whole lot of eyeballs and swing them Yamaha’s way if the Indian arm of the MotoGP world championship winning manufacturer do decide to take the bold step.
