Interesting News
  • FORD news.

Ford’s medium MPV, the C-MAX, manages to smash the 100g/km barrier for CO2 with the launch of a new 1.5-litre TDCi ECOnetic edition, exclusively available in five-seat C-MAX Zetec trim. The new 104bhp variant manages to achieve 99g/km and is capable of 74.3mpg on the combined fuel economy cycle. The detuned engine still achieves the same 114mph top speed as its more powerful sister car, though acceleration to 62mph is 0.8 of a second slower at 12.1 seconds. The price premium for extra frugality is Ј200, with the single Zetec 1.5 TDCi ECOnetic edition costing Ј20,245, even though it loses its alloy wheels in favour of 16-inch steel wheels, low rolling resistance tyres and aerodynamically optimised wheel trims. Available to order now, Ford’s new economy MPV arrives in Ford dealerships early in the new year.
  • Speed Triple.

We’ve all seen the videos of the new Speed Triple, we also got to see the bike in the flesh at EICMA 2015. Although the basic cycle parts remain mostly unchanged, the bike now features a brand-new 1,050-cc in-line triple with a new combustion chamber, new piston design, new cylinder-head and a new machined crankshaft. Triumph have also added ride-by-wire technology, a smaller and more efficient radiator, a slipper clutch and a free-flowing exhaust with 70 per cent better flow rate into the mix. The new Speed Triple S and Speed Triple R also feature a suite of rider-focused technology. Among the features that add to the Speed Triple’s performance and capability are a new ECU coupled to a new adjustable ride-by-wire throttle with selectable throttle maps that increase the feel, responsiveness and control. There are now five distinct riding modes to choose from: Road, Rain, Sport, Track and a new Rider Configurable mode, that allows the rider to set up the motorcycle to the optimum performance relative to road conditions or environment.
  • 2017 Suzuki SV650.

Suzuki has announced that the ever-popular SV650 will make its offi- cial return to the States next year, this after Suzuki saw just intermittent success with its Gladius and SFV650 models. Introduced as an early-release 2017 model, the new SV features 140 redesigned components for both the engine and chassis and weighs around 15 pounds less than the outgoing SFV while producing a claimed 75 hp (versus 71 hp for the SFV). Specific changes to the engine include new pistons with resin-coated skirts, a new exhaust system, and staggered intake funnels that improve midrange performance. The bike also features Suzuki’s one-push easystart system, as well as a low-rpm assist mode, which activates the bike’s idle speed control valve at low engine revs to assist with leaving a stop. On the chassis side, Suzuki’s goal was to make the bike more compact and narrow, which it’s accomplished with updates to the frame and changes to the tank that reduce overall tank width by just over 2.5 inches. The new SV650 will be available early summer 2016.
