Maserati

Maserati

Company was founded in 1926 by Maserati brothers. At the beginning this company was located in mechanical shop of Alfieri Maserati (1887-1937). He was a Chief designer. Alfieri with Ettore, Bindo and Ernesto brothers assembled racing sport car from self-designed units. The fortune was favored with Italian and the same year Alfieri on this car had won racing in Targa-Florio. In 1937 Maserati brothers sold their business to Orci family but did not leave the company and continued to work as consultants.

After long-term researches 250F model was designed and launched. This is the most famous model of Maserati. Soon company started production of other models. In 1993 Maserati was bought by FIAT concern. Since that time the company for some years produced representative Quattroporte sedan and Ghibli Coupe.

In 1997 Maserati joined to Ferrari. Since November of 1997 to increase reliability and quality of Maserati line, Modena plants ceased Ghibli and Quattroporte production for a year. Production upgrade costs nearly 11.5 millions dollars and was successively finished in autumn 1998 by Maserati 3200 GT launch.

According to current Maserati strategy the company plans to pass on high-speed sportcars with effective appearance.
