The UK’s best-selling SUV is now available with advanced driving assistance technology called ProPilot, and to celebrate its availability, Nissan has announced a top-of-the-range Pilot One Edition model. Priced at £33,425, the newcomer is based on the Tekna+ version with 1.6-litre dCi engine and Xtronic automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a plum Nappa leather interior, metal sports pedals, a chrome exterior styling pack and door protectors and interior badging wearing the Pilot One Edition badging. The ProPilot system is Nissan’s first step into autonomous driving and assists the driver with steering, acceleration and braking both in low- and high-speed congestion. The system can bring the car to a stop and then moves off automatically if the stop has been less than three seconds. If it’s longer, then the driver just needs to tap the accelerator or press the ‘resume’ button on the steering wheel. It’s designed to reduce tiredness and stress, improving safety. Information is correlated from a camera mounted on the windscreen and a radar behind the Nissan badge on the front grille. ProPilot will also be offered as a £795 optional extra on Tekna and Tekna+ trim levels, but only on versions equipped with the 1.6-litre dCi engine and Xtronic transmission.
