Pontiac

Pontiac

Pontiac company was founded in 1983 by Edward M. Merhpy in Pontiac city to produce carriages. The company was renamed into Oakland Motor Car Company and launched car production. After some time Oakland was affiliated by General Motors. Next time the company was renamed as Pontiac Motor Division in 1926. In 1953 Pontiac represented Silver Streak model. It was so successful that it got a management thinking of expansion. At the end of 70-ies, by taking into account energy crisis, General Motors redirects Pontiac on production of economical cars with low fuel consumption and then Pontiac designed a Pontiac Fiero sportive coupe.

By now Pontiac is still within of General Motors but continues to work and develop in its division. Also it designs and produces sportive cars. But total sales and marketing policy of company are fully depending on General Motors.
