Chinese Roewe brand is a property of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). The main company's activity is production of passenger cars for domestic market.
Roewe produces models based on production of British brand MG Rover which is owed by SAIC. Brand owner can not use Rover name because this label is controlled by BMW. Because of this SAIC has registered new brand using emblems and image of foreign active. Brand history begun in 2006 when the first Roewe 750 car was issued. The car was based on famous Rover 75 sedan but Chinese have made some modifications in car's design.
Appearance, saloon and technical components of car were upgraded.
