Volvo

Volvo Aktiebolaget is a Swedish company producing passenger cars and trucks as well as power units of different purpose and engines for civil and military aviation. As many of automobile companies Volvo is involved in production of agricultural engineering, forest and household appliances. The company is headquartered in Goterborg.

The first Volvo car was named Jakob and it was designed by company's founders Assar Gabrielsson and Gustav Larsson. Production plant for Volvo cars was built in 1927. The compay name comes from Latin verb "to roll, rotate", the first person singular - "I roll". Volvo produced reliable cars but the war didn't allow Swedens to enter European market. But in post-war period after number of advertisement companies Volvo has won great popularity not only in Europe but in US too. And, of course, in Sweden Volvo was the most popular brand. Volvo PV44 was leading in Sweden till 1953. Following "accent" PV 444 and PV 544 models were made on the basis of PV44.

Volvo paid colossal attention to passengers' safety. The company indeed for a half of a century forms standards of safe car. Three-point seatbelts, double-circuit brake system with triangle connection, special roof beam for protection of body deformation at swing over... Many innovations are already accepted as standards of automobile industry. Main Volvo advantages are reliability and safety. These characteristics are especially appreciated in Russia, that's why despite expensive service in Volvo centers this brand has won great popularity in Russia.
